Our Sandpipers children’s latest project was to make minibeast home models. The children showed such an interest in this activity that we have followed on from that by having a modeling area in our creative area for the past two weeks. This is a great opportunity to talk about how we need to value our children’s work.  Our parents will have received models at home that may just look like a bunch of old food boxes randomly stuck together. But to your child this could be the culmination of a morning’s work or more. Our Sandpipers are just at the starting point on their journey learning how to make their own creations, simple representations of objects they already know and so on. As they get older, they can build on these skills further with practise.   We need to celebrate our children’s creations and encourage them to continue this practise.
