FUN WITH PHONICS

Pre-School children at Happy Valley started their official phonics programme. Leading up to the programme, they tried out all sorts of different mark-marking activities like writing in sand to writing on whiteboards and paper. They also enjoyed drawing/writing their morning routines.

Last week, they started practising our sounds by enunciating the sounds s, a t, l, p, n, such as “let’s have ‘S’nack now.”

In their chats, they talked about the importance of learning the different phoneme sounds and how it can assist them with reading in the future. As schools are currently suspended, they have been introducing four new sounds to children each week through their sound book in their learning packs. In their follow-up and live calls, the teacher will teach both the parents and children on the correct pronunciation and how to make learning fun at home.
