Safeguarding and Protective Behaviours

At Woodland Sai Kung, our pre-school Otter Class learned about exploring safe spaces. Our Protective Behaviours Programme provided opportunities for children to recognise and practice behaviours that will keep them safe from harm.

On this occasion, they explored the new character, Sam the Safe Explorer. The story helped the children recognise safe and unsafe spaces and how they felt in certain places – whether they were scared or upset, even in familiar places. The children were able to review what they had learned from the story of Eve and Fiona, understanding emotions and finding their five heroes.

Lastly, as we celebrated Mental Health Week this week, the children consolidated their learning through various activities, such as drawing their feelings, showing their uniqueness through stories and performing distinct exercises to regulate their emotions.
