What do you love about your job?
Watching the children grow and mature almost daily is immensely gratifying, but nurturing special relationships between the parents and the school gives me the most joy. I encourage lots of parent involvement, which I believe is important for each child’s development.

What do you enjoy most about working at Woodland?
Woodland works very hard to ensure each of the schools has an individual personality and its own special vibe. Teachers take care to make sure each child can grow and learn, socially as well as through their education. I am very proud of the environment we provide for children and how extremely well prepared they are to meet the demands of Primary school.

What’s your favourite memory of working at Woodland?
It was at one of our Father’s Day events, which had 100% attendance. One of the pre-school classes had organised a class activity for all the dads, which involved sitting them all on child sized chairs and their child shaving their faces within a given amount of time. Each child had to spray the shaving foam on their dad’s face and scrape it off with a wooden lolly stick. The peals of laughter and the pure joy in the classroom is truly my favourite memory!

What do you love about your job?
I believe everyone has the ability to make our world a better place, each in their own way. I am very proud to be a part of this influence because “Teachers change the world one child at a time”!

What do you enjoy most about working with children?
My biggest reward from working with children is their love. Their smiles and hugs brighten up my day and keep my belief in the world alive.  Being around children is challenging, but at the same time it’s a continuous learning opportunity for teachers. One would only realize how little they know until a child asks you their “why” and “how” questions. To me, children are like mirrors. They help you reflect on your teaching by the way they react and behave, hence, I am also learning each day with the children I teach and love. We are all growing together as a whole.

    Most memorable/favourite moment?
Witnessing children working peacefully on their own by the end of the year is certainly the most satisfying. Some of them are even able to conduct circle time (singing and dancing) without a teacher!
“The greatest sign of success for a teacher is to be able to say, ‘The children are now working as if I did not exist’.” – Maria Montessori
