    When did you start teaching?
I started teaching in London, in 2003. I set up my own touring theatre company for children and adults, as well as producing, directing and writing scripts for the touring theatre company “Memory Lane Theatre Company”. I came to Hong Kong in 2005 and started teaching ESL programs and extra-curricular activities in local Hong Kong government schools. In 2007 I joined Woodland as a Wrigglers, Playgroup and Stepping Stones teacher as well as the drama teacher for the afternoon pre-school classes. I became school supervisor in 2008.

What do you enjoy most about working at Woodland?
I love the team spirit and family feel of working at Woodland – not only the support from parents but also the camaraderie of the teachers, and the supervisors of other schools, as well as the support and friendship from the head office. I want to finish at the end of the day knowing I have made a difference to people’s lives and made their day better, whether they are parents, children and or colleagues.

What’s your favourite memory of teaching at Woodland?
At the Christmas Concert in 2008 in the Wanchai school, the children performed on a big stage for the first time. Seeing them glow and shine with their families watching, it was so lovely to be able to be a part of their first performing experience!

    Ms Katie Hui

    Lead Teacher

Nationality/years in Hong Kong and/or Asia: I was born in Hong Kong and moved to Australia when I was 5 years old.

When do you love about your job?
I love my job because it’s profoundly challenging and rewarding. I look forward to going to work everyday and seeing the smiles on the children’s faces and receiving hugs and excitable chats. Watching the children learn and grow is the biggest reward a teacher can have!

What do you enjoy most about working at Woodland?
I love the fact that as teachers we work as a team to provide the best for our students and become their facilitators in their learning. Also the children are able to be their unique self and develop their interests while learning through play.

What’s your favourite memory of teaching at Woodland?
There are too many to mention but watching the children in my class grow over the year and form special friendships with their peers are particularly memorable. Other memorable moments are when we celebrate special events such as Christmas concerts, and different cultural celebrations throughout the year such as Mother’s and Father’s days.
